- Have puppets show asking children which puppet displayed appropriate behavior (thumbs up, thumbs down) and probe deeper asking students why do you feel this way?
- Have cards with pictures of children displaying different behaviors both appropriate and inappropriate. Place in a bag/box have children take turns labeling behavior on card and they can pick a friend to demonstrate with.
- Visit other classrooms to demonstrate and/or watch appropriate behavior
- Have a "I can be a Friend" play.
- Have a School rules contract for children to sign in school and at home
- I have been blessed to have a visual impaired student in my classroom who forces me to rethink how I teach. I had to have more auditory and tactile cues for this student. I video taped/recorded the discussion and the rules and played it back for him and the rest of my students. It was empowering and so much more meaningful than having just a poster. This year I am going to make a video of the rules and have it displayed on the Mimio board for studets. I love technology!
