My name is Melinda Avolio, my colleagues call me "Avolio" and I am know by my students and parents as "teacher" or and what I prefer Mrs.Avolio! I am not a teacher that likes to "follow" a curriculum. My style of teaching is focused on the student. I spend my year getting to know what their interests are and build on their strengths. I am also a teacher that is far from conventional, I tend to think "outside the box" and I like to think of 10 different ways to teach the same concept. I believe in the mulit-intelligences and try to include all of them in my teaching activities. I am a hands on (bodily kinesthetic) , love to talk, sing and dance(Linguistic, Musical), I like to be around people(interpersonal) and enjoy some sense of organization (Spatial). I study my students and find how they learn and how I can incorpporate their learning style into my daily lessons.
I created this blog to share my ideas and get some feedback from other educators like me! This is my launching pad so to speak to see if it this something worthy of my precious time. I am working on buliding a website. I will try to visit my blog weekly and add to it as often as i can!
